Cue Nine Pool Party Benefits Animals in Need

The Little Shelter in Huntington will use donations from the event to rescue more animals.

Cue Nine Billiards and Restaurant hosted "Cues for a Cause" Sunday night to raise money and awareness for Little Shelter, an animal sanctuary located in Huntington.

Charlie Eames, Cue Nine's tournament director, reached out to Little Shelter in regards to a fundraiser at the Levittown establishment. The Little Shelter staff was thrilled but didn't expect all that Eames produced on their behalf.

"Charlie did a wonderful job with this event," said Little Shelter's Communications and Event Coordinator, Jodi Record. "The turnout has been just great. We are overwhelmed."

For the past eight years, Eames' family's business, Classic Casino Productions, has worked with the Little Shelter organizing an annual casino-themed fundraiser. After developing such a strong relationship and seeing what good the shelter does for animals, Eames felt he needed to do more.

"Being an animal lover and fanatic, I wanted to do something good with Cue Nine to support the shelter," said Eames. "We're very excited about the feedback from people both in and outside the pool industry."

A $35 donation included a free dinner buffet, open bar including wine and beer and unlimited pool for four hours.

"Anything we can do to help out an incredible organization like Little Shelter, and push pool into a positive light, is a win-win situation," Eames said.

Little Shelter is one of Long Island's oldest non-profit, no kill shelters and the only shelter on Long Island that is a part of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals.

Sunday night's fundraiser was promoted through various social media networks, including NYC Grind, an underground billiards, arts and music forum, along with advertising done by Little Shelter.

World-renowned billiards player and instructor Tony Robles and two-time U.S. Open champion Mika Immonen were both at Cue Nine to support the shelter, along with legendary trick master Andy Segel.

Kiss of Death, a famed female pool team that was named the Vegas National Team winner, also joined in to support the cause. The ladies auctioned off a brand new billiards table set valued at $5,000.
