Hofstra Softball Coach from Levittown Honored

Larissa Anderson and Hofstra softball named Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The Hofstra softball coaching staff was recently named the Northeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year, and a Levittown resident was a big part of it.

Associate Head Coach Larissa Anderson helped guide Hofstra to a 42-15 record and the school's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Super Regional round.

Anderson has coached at Hofstra for 11 years and is in her eighth season as associate head coach. The Levittown resident has helped the Pride to eight CAA Tournament championships and seven NCAA Tournament appearances in her first 10 seasons on the staff.

Prior to coming to Hofstra, Anderson served as an assistant coach for two seasons at C.W. Post. Before that she served one season as an assistant coach at Gannon University in 1998, after being named a regional All-American outfielder in 1997, according to the Hofstra Athletics page.

The Pride set a school record with 21 straight victories this season, culminating with a game 1 victory over No. 19 South Florida in Game 1 of the Tampa Super Regional. The Bulls won both Games 2 and 3 by a single run as Hofstra fell one victory shy of reaching the Women's College World Series.

Hofstra finished with a 40-win season for the sixth time in the last eight seasons, including a 22-0 total record against CAA teams en route to the first undefeated conference showing in program history.
