Levittown CEO Soars With Hound Comics

William "Brimstone" Kucmierowski launched his latest company in Oct. 2010.

While most of his friends spent the weekends indulging in the typical life of a 20-something, Levittown resident William 'Brimstone' Kucmierowski was constantly striving to build his career.

Today, his hard work and dedication has led him to something a little different from his life as a drummer and professionally trained wrestler. Kucmierowski founded Hound Comics in 2010 with the launch of its flagship brand "Brimstone and the Borderhounds".

Available in B. Dalton and Barnes & Noble stores across the country, "Brimstone and the Borderhounds" was originally conceived by Kucmierowski and Hound Comics co-founder Marcello Carnevali. The comic depicts a serial killer, who was thought to been executed years prior, storming the streets of New York City and a detective who sacrifices it all to put him away.

Less than two years later, Levittown-based Hound Comics has developed into a nationwide empire with three comic book series and additional divisions like Hound Kids, Hound Entertainment, Foodhound Tidbits, and Hound Publishing.

"It's nothing like I thought it would be, it's a million times better," said Kucmierowski, a Uniondale native. "I thought we were going to put out a comic and I would continue everything else I'd been doing."

"That was me and a few partners, and now, we're a full blown corporation," he added. "Never in a million years did I think I would be working with these people to create something that's so much bigger. It's become an entity built on Brimstone and that makes me so happy, so humbled."

According to Kucmierowski, Hound Kids was created last year in order to reach a different audience. Designed by celebrity artists Peter 'Chewbacca' Mayhew, best known for his work behind the famed Star Wars character, and Rich Arons, who broke into the industry with his work on Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Freakazoid, Hound Kids features series more suitable for the little ones, like CrashBat, Turbie the Turtle-duck and a "Border and the Borderhounds" spin off, Border-Pups.

"We branched off," Kucmierowski explained. "We want the brand to reach and touch every demographic possible. There's always a good moral to the story and reasoning to where and why and how. The kids seem to be loving it."

The company's latest venture off the pages is a merge with Eastsport luggage carriers where various Hound Comics artists are giving away custom designed backpacks in contests through the rest of the year. Until July 31, Vice President and Hound Comics leading artist Sajad Shah's one-of-a-kind Eastsport bag will be up for grabs.
