Local Engineers Launch Recording Studio in Amityville

Patch interviewed One Ten Studios co-owner Andrew Ayala, a Levittown resident.

Former bandmates Andrew Ayala, from Levittown, and John Saylor, from Westbury, have taken their careers as artists to the next level, joining forces to open a full service recording studio.

Open since January, One Ten Studios specializes in advanced audio recording and media production. With a production suite and state-of-the-art live room and control room, the Amityville facility covers professional mixing, mastering, remote mixing and music and video production.

While they both were operating studios in their homes, Ayala and Saylor thought it'd be best to collaborate in a commercial environment for musicians of all sorts, ranging from violinists to rap and hip hop artists.

"John is just as passionate about his work as I am and we were ready to commit," Ayala said. "Having a place away from your house and being able to get away and record is cool enough in itself. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to build this."

Ayala, a 2006 graduate of Island Trees High School, has immersed himself in the world of music since a young age. Picking up his first guitar at age 11, Ayala's passion grew strong. Once out of high school, he began teaching guitar lessons while playing in local bands.

Today, as co-owner of One Ten Studios, Ayala says his new business venture allows him a gratifying career that he truly loves.

"I always wanted to be in a band and be able to record myself," said Ayala, who earned his degree in engineering at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. "I get the same feeling here that I did when I taught guitar. I like building relationships with my clients. At the end of the day, when someone is really happy about their finished product, it's rewarding."

One Ten Studios is located at 221 Broadway, Amityville. For more information or to schedule a session, please call 631-608-2795.
