Levittown Teen Fatally Struck on Hempstead Turnpike
Peter Thearle was hit by two vehicles as he crossed the road.
A 19-year-old Levittown resident was fatally struck by two vehicles early Saturday morning as he attempted to cross Hempstead Turnpike, according to Nassau County Police.
Peter Thearle was walking across Hempstead Turnpike from the south side of Gardiners Avenue at 4:25 a.m. when a 2003 Dodge pickup truck hit him in eastbound right lane, police said. Thearle was then hit by a 2003 Saturn, which was traveling in the center lane of the eastbound side of Hempstead Turnpike.
According to police, Thearle was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:38 a.m. by an EMT from the Wantagh-Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Presently, detectives do not suspect “criminality."
