Where to Beat the Heat

As the heat continues to oppress the local area, Patch has found some great places to stay cool in Levittown.

Each week, Patch Picks will highlight editor and reader picks of great local businesses, destinations, services, organizations, ways to spend a day off and more.

You’ll find useful lists to help you, your family, friends and significant others find the best places for everything from Sunday brunch to New Year’s Eve celebrations, pumpkin patches, date night destinations, florists, girls' nights out, kids party places, parks and more.

This week, Levittown Patch searched for spots to beat the sizzling summer heat. We found everything from movie theaters, bowling hotspots and indoor shopping to “cool” crafts and home entertainment. There is something for everyone on this list, so be sure to check out cool spots are right around your corner:

Watch a Movie at Loews
An exciting summer flick, delicious treats and cool temperatures indoors make Loews Movie Theater the perfect spot to keep cool on even the most blistering hot days. All you have to do is sit back, relax and be thankful to have such a frosty locale to cool off during this hot August.

Bowl at South Levittown Lanes
If you are someone who loves a little physical activity – even inside – a game of bowling with some friends at South Levittown Lanes might be right for you. Get some competition going with your opponents and face off to see who can win the game for his or her team – all while staying out of the blazing sun. Just bring your friends and get ready to have a fantastic time without breaking a sweat.

Take a Walk Around Tri-County Bazaar
Stroll around the newly revamped Tri County Bazaar and see what the dozens of vendors have to offer.  The best part of this unique shopping experience is that it is all indoors with ample amounts of air conditioning!

Get Creative at Cool Crafts
With all of the beautiful scenery summer has to offer, it is certainly a time for many – including children - to get a little creative with their art projects. If you want to help focus your child’s creativity into a productive outlet without being outside, head over to Cool Crafts. They have summer sessions, with each day bringing a new craft. For more information visit their website.

Board Games and Movies at Home
If you don’t feel like leaving your home on those hazy, hot and humid days, beat the oppressive heat by cranking up your personal air conditioner and bringing out the old board games and movies. This is something that will keep all age groups entertained – and cool – for hours. Don’t have your own air conditioner? Head over to P.C. Richard & Sons or Jay's to find a deal.
