Long Island Lizards Looking for Ballboys

Some of the Long Island Lizards professional outdoor lacrosse team’s game day staff will be holding official open tryouts for candidates as regular game day Long Island Lizard ballboys at on Saturday April 21 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. (Don’t be late!) The cost to try out is 100 percent free.

Boys from Levittown and all over Long Island wishing to be considered for the position as a regular volunteer home field game day Long Island Lizard ballboy should show up accompanied with an adult in order to be considered for the position. Tryouts will consist of some important skill drills as well as other tasks.

Being a regular game day Long Island Lizard ballboy is hard work but one with a lot of benefits. Boys that eventually get chosen get to spend serious time with the Lizards players, coaches and staff.

You must be able to make Lizard home practices on Thursday nights as well as most, if not all, of their home games at James M. Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University (4/28, 6/1, 6/23, 7/7, 7/14,7/21 and 7/28).

We wish you luck and hope to see you there.

When: Saturday April 21 from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Where: Eisenhower Park, Merrick Ave, corner of Hempstead Turnpike, in the Safetytown parking lot. Meet at the covered picnic area, opposite baseball field #1.

What to bring: An adult, parent or guardian (for legal reasons), your equipment - helmet, mouthpiece, stick, pads, gloves, cup  and sneakers (YES, SNEAKERS!!! NO CLEATS!!!!  WEAR SNEAKERS!!!!) and a positive, friendly, responsible attitude.

Tryouts will take place in good to fair weather. They will only be canceled in the event of heavy rain or lightning.

We wish you luck and hope to see you there.
