Together We Can Make A Difference

Mrs. Mayer and Mac Arthur Make a Difference
Tammy Mayer teaches Art at Mac Arthur High School in Levittown.  She has been teaching in the district for over 25 years.  Every year for Autism Awareness Month she takes on a project and tries to make it school wide, to promote awareness and kindness.  This year her vision was to cut out over 1400 puzzle pieces (puzzle pieces are the symbol for Autism) and have each student in the school sign a puzzle piece and write something inspirational on the piece.  She then linked all the pieces together throughout the entire school, including up and down stairways, etc.  It is quite a sight to behold, and the messages the children wrote are quite special.   Vision complete, job well done!

How inspiring it is to see so many students, teachers and staff come together and take the time to show support, compassion, caring and understanding for these very special children! Thank you, Mrs. Mayer and all those at MacArthur for standing up and standing out for a great cause!

Ms. Mayer along with the entire staff and many students do indeed make a difference within the community and with the special kids!
