The newly-formed Merrick Avenue Civic Association will hold a meeting at the Wednesday night.
A representative from the New York State Department of Transportation will speak at the meeting.
The representative's presentation will focus on pedestrian and driver safety, particularly concerns along Hempstead Turnpike. Ideas for attracting new business will also be discussed.
A campaign to make Hempstead Turnpike safer has spread after along the state roadway occurred in recent years.
The Tri-State Transportation Council named the highway the most dangerous road for pedestrians in the tri-state area released earlier this year.
A member of the Sheriff Officer's Association will also speak at the meeting to discuss issues at the .
The meeting will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Equal time will be alloted for questions and comments.
