Story by Elizabeth Sobel, Syntax.Thirty-four top
mathematics students from Levittown’s MacArthur High School were inducted into
the Mu Alpha Theta Chapter of the National Mathematics and Two-Year College
Mathematics Honor Society during a ceremony in the school’s auditorium.
These
bright students were selected based on a cumulative grade point average of 90
percent, involvement in peer tutoring and enrollment in upper-level math
courses for college credit.

Joanna Dillon and Cynthia Fasano congratulated the young mathematicians for
having accomplished this goal.
“You are among the best and brightest at
MacArthur High School, and I hope that each of you continues on this road to
success,” Fasano said.
Hempstead
Town Councilman Gary Hudes also bestowed certificates of commendation to each
of the inductees and reminded the students that this will be only one of many
accomplishments they will achieve in the future.
