Tim Courtney Awarded First Distinguished Alumni Honor at ITHS

Tim Courtney, ITHS class of 1962, was awarded the first “Distinguished Alumni” honor at Homecoming on September 28.  Courtney accepted the award from Principal Nicholas Grande for his dedication to our community in the field of volunteerism.

Courtney has volunteered with the Levittown Fire Department for over 50 years.  He is a veteran, as well as a retiree of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department, who is committed to keeping the residents of Levittown and Island Trees safe.  Courtney's name will be placed on a perpetual plaque in the high school’s “Hall of Excellence.”

Other nominees to be awarded this honor in the future, include an alumnus who was recently inducted into the Worldwide Internet Hall of Fame, in Berlin, Germany last summer, and a two time Pulitzer Prize winner.
