March Events at the Levittown Library

A look at some upcoming events taking place at your local library.

Here's a look at some upcoming events taking place at the Levittown Library, located at 1 Bluegrass Lane.

Please keep in mind that some events may require registration or tickets, and some events may require a fee.

The library will be closed on Sunday, March 31.

Exhibits and Displays

March 1 through March 29, 2013
Exhibit and Display Cases:
Nassau County Camera Club-photography
Artists’ Reception: Friday, March 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Exhibit Area.  Light refreshments served.

ADULT Programs

March 2013, Wednesdays & Fridays
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Free Income Tax Assistance
AARP Tax-Aide for ages 60+ Bring current tax records and a copy of your last filed tax return.  All persons listed on the tax return must be present and must bring a photo ID and a Social Security card or another form of Social Security verification. Appointment necessary.  No fee.

Mondays in March and April from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Stretching and Toning Eight Sessions
for adults with Lois Gaiti
Registration and fee required.

Friday, March 1
2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Feature Film
In the Community Room
Dark Shadows
Rated PG-13, 1 hr. 53 minutes.
No fee.  No tickets required.

Sunday, March 3, at 2:00 p.m.
Music- Spirited Irish Music with a Global Twist
Cady Finlayson has brought her spirited Irish fiddling to 35 states and Ireland.  She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Blackstone Valley Celtic Festival. Vita Tanga has played guitar from Radio City Music Hall to Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris - his hometown. Tickets Suggested. No fee.

Wednesday, March 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Adult Game Club
There are tables available to meet and play cards, checkers, mahjong, and any other table games for fun.  Tables are on a first-come, first-served basis.  Join a group or bring your own players.  Please bring your own game supplies.        
No registration or fee required.

Wednesday, March 6, at 8:00 p.m.
Library Board of Trustees Meeting
The Board of Trustees meetings are open to the public.
The agenda includes a Period for Public Expression.
 
Friday, March 8, at 9:30 a.m.
AARP Driver Safety Program
Preference is given to Levittown UFSD residents.  Fee:  $17.00 for AARP Members; $19.00 for non-members, (check or money order).
Registration and fee required.

Thursday, March 14, at 2:00 p.m.
Bing Crosby
Bing Crosby was one of the most popular entertainers in the 30’s and 40’s, had the number one radio show and was a top box office star in many films.  He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, and his Irish recordings are some of the most popular ever sang.  In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, Jack Schnur, a video tape editor for CBS for 30 years, will present Bing Crosby’s life in a two- part series.  Part two will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.No Registration required.  No fee.

Relax after school in the Teen Lounge by playing XBox, Wii, or board games!
No Registration required.  No fee.

Thursday, March 7, from 2:30-5:00 p.m.
Teen Maker Space
March Project:  Duct Tape Bracelet
The Teen Lounge will now have a Maker Space where teens can drop by and create something cool.  Supplies and instructions will be available in the Wii Room during specified dates and times.
No Registration or fee required.
 
Monday, March 11, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Teen Manga Club
Love Manga and Anime?  Here’s your chance to meet with other Levittown teens who feel the same.  Talk about your favorite Manga and Anime characters and series, share drawing techniques, and enjoy snacks.
Registration required.  No fee.

Just an update to date we have raised $750 dollars once we reach the first $1000 Shelly will haveRead More her first surgery to correct her right leg then 8 - 12 weeks later hopefully the funds will be available to correct her left leg
