Business Q & A: Hair Stylist Lisa Andreu

Andreu markets herself as a traveling stylist catering to men and women for various salon services.

For more than three decades, Levittown resident and mother Lisa Andreu has dedicated her life outside her family to her lifelong dream as a professional hairstylist.

When she's not styling at her salon position in Hicksville, Andreu works as the Hairdresser on Wheels, traveling to clients homes for both convenience and a more personal touch.

Patch recently sat down with Andreu to discuss the services she offers.

How did you first get started as a hairdresser?

Hairdressing has been my dream since I was nine years old. In high school, when I got the chance, I decided to go to beauty school for three years.

What made your want to pursue this as a full-time career?

Hairdressing has never felt like a career. It has always been my passion. Doing it full-time is what makes me happy.

What do you like best about what you do?

I love to make other people feel beautiful, even when they are having a bad day. Having a nice hairstyle makes some people feel better about themselves and there is nothing like putting a smile on a clients face.

Where do you travel to for clients?

I am willing to travel within a 30 minute radius of Levittown.

What do you think being a traveling stylist offers your clients? Do you also work in a salon or from your home?

Yes, I do work at a salon, Beauty and the Barber in Hicksville, two days a week. Some of my clients like the salon atmosphere better. I am a traveling stylist because alot of people either don't have time to go to a salon or just can't get around easily. It is more convenient for the elderly. By traveling, I can bring every salon service to my clients.

What sort of services do you offer?

Services I offer for men, women and children include haircuts, colors, highlights, perms, blowouts and iron sets, keratin treatments, buzzcuts, updos and more.

What do you think separates your services from other stylists?

I am not only a hairdresser. I become my clients friends and support. I am a good listener and my clients usually look forward to seeing me again at the next appointment.

What do you hope for your business in the future?

One day, I hope to have a large enough clientele to have a successful salon of my own that offers an on-site to-go service.
