Davis Vision Undergoes Expansion in Levittown

The optical retailer looks towards the future after undergoing an expansion at 3244 Hempstead Tpke.

In a harsh national economy, many are noticing a growing trend in local businesses- rather than opening their doors to the public for the first time, more and more are closing them for good.
 
However, one Levittown business bucking that trend is Davis Vision, which is not only surviving, but actually thriving, having recently expanded their operations in Levittown Plaza on Hempstead Turnpike.
 
Patch recently spoke to Rob Morrison, Davis Vision’s General Manager, about the ins and out of the eyeglass business.

Give us a little history on your Levittown location. How long have you been there, and how has the community responded to you?
 
We moved to our Levittown location in March of 2009, relocating from East Meadow where we originally opened in 2000. We felt a warm welcome from our customers since our arrival.
 
Our customers are thrilled at the convenience of our location, and we are experiencing that same excitement now that we have completed our recent expansion.
 
It is a very exciting time for all of us here, and we look forward to providing an even better customer experience in our much larger store.
 
We are proud to be a “good corporate citizen” and always welcome opportunities to help our community in a variety of ways from donating gift cards and discounts to various efforts and providing volunteer support to community events and activities when called upon.
 
Please tell us about what you do there at Davis Vision. What services do you offer?
 
Davis Vision is a complete full service optical store, offering the finest service and products in the area. We offer complete eye exams including contact lens fitting, glaucoma screening and dilations by our licensed Doctors of Optometry. We have multiple Optometrists on staff daily. In addition to scheduled appointments, we welcome walk-in exams as well.
 
At Davis Vision we accept most insurance plans, and we offer more than 2,500 frames on site, including top quality designer frames from well-known brands. We also have an extensive selection of value frames as well including frame and lenses packaging starting as low as $79.
 
Depending on the prescription, one hour service is available.
 
All our eyewear comes with our 30 day Customer Delight Policy. We welcome everyone to take advantage of our free repair, adjustments and cleaning of their current eyewear.
 
Tell us about your store’s recent expansion.
 
Our expansion started in December 2012, and is its final phase right now. When the T-mobile store moved out many months back, we looked at it as a great opportunity for us to provide a better experience for our customers and have more than doubled in size. We are now able to provide a bigger and brighter new store, with many more frames and products to choose from.

The expansion also provides a more comfortable environment by providing five selling stations, a separate area for eyewear delivery, repairs and adjustments. In addition we have a large pre-test room and a third exam room. This will enable us to make sure we can continue to grow without sacrificing our customer service expectations.
 
Tell us a little about yourself, Rob. What's your background?
 
I have been a NYS licensed optician for 20 years, and have more than 25 years of retail management experience. I take great pride in ensuring my team provides outstanding customer service to all our customers, and have made this my continued focus throughout my career. I am entering my seventh year with Davis Vision and am proud to be a part of an organization that truly puts our customers first. One of our core values is “people matter” and that is a value we bring to life every day.
 
If someone was unfamiliar with your business, what would you say to entice them into trying Davis Vision out?  
 
There are many choices for the consumer in today’s market, and at Davis Vision we have built a tremendous amount of customer loyalty. In many cases we have been seeing the same patients and their families for more than a decade.
 
I encourage today’s consumer to allow our eye care professionals to educate them about what is available, and how it benefits their lifestyle needs. I am positive that we make that our mission with all our customers, and I hope everyone will allow us the opportunity to show them what a complete eye care experience should be.
 
Davis Vision is part of the national “Visionworks” brand, and will eventually assume that name. Our vision “family” currently has nearly 600 locations nationwide currently operating under a variety of different brand names. By the end of 2013 we hope that all stores will be re-branded to the “Visionworks” nationwide. Same product, same great value, same great service, just a different name.
