HSBC Building Demolished, Construction to Begin on New CVS

The new CVS should be ready to open by 2013, according to spokesperson.

The vacant HSBC building at 2970 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown has been knocked down as construction awaits for a new CVS building.

The plans to demolish the building and move the current CVS at 2977 Hempstead Tpke. across the street to the new location were announced back in February.

Construction on the new building will start in a couple of weeks and CVS is shooting for an opening date of January 2013, according to Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray.

At 12,900 square feet, the new CVS building will be 50 percent larger than the HSBC building and will feature a drive-through pharmacy, which the current CVS location does not offer.

Murray, who said she lives two blocks from the location, is happy to see construction begin.

“We’re really excited – it’s going to be a nice enhancement and expansion of the building, and will revitalize the property,” she said.

The Levittown Fire Department had used the building for training exercises before it was demolished.
