Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology Center Still Planned for Former ICC Site

Councilman Gary Hudes says that the application is in front of the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency.

Over a year ago, the Israel Community Center was torn down. At the time, the Levittown Patch reported that a Zwanger-Pesiri radiology clinic was rumored to be moving in.

More than a year later, that is still the plan. In a press release about Levittown Ford's grand opening last week, the Town included a sentence that said "A neighboring vacant property that once housed a synagogue will soon be the new home for the prestigious Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology clinic."

"Unfortunately, the Israel Community Center for a period of time visually was in disrepair while it was empty after the temple had closed up," said Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes. "Now, with the demolition of the building, the property has been kept clean."

Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes told Patch that the plans for the radiology clinic are in front of the Town's Industrial Development Agency. "It's progressing along," he said. "We are very encouraged [and] we're waiting for the shovel in the ground."

Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology has clinics all over Long Island, including in Merrick, Plainview, Massapequa, Smithtown, West Islip, East Setauket and Stony Brook. Three Village Patch recently did a feature on the Stony Brook clinic.

Hudes said that he and Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray were excited about having the company come in after seeing its success elsewhere.

"Looking to the south, to Merrick, they’ve built a facility there which is a state-of-the-art facility and looks just great," he said. "[It's] very modern-looking, well-landscaped and really is a very positive-looking office building there. We’re relly looking forward to their doing something similar in Levittown."
