Levittown Chamber of Commerce Spotlight on Business

Long time Chamber of Commerce member Louise Cassano is owner and principal of LuCas Communications, a public relations firm celebrating its eighteenth year of dong business.  LuCas Communications specializes in PR consulting, event planning, marketing collateral including brochures and newsletter, business writing and community affairs.  Highly recognized around town and within the public relations industry, Louise concurrently serves on the board of directors of several community and business organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Levittown Community Council and Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI). A former award winning news reporter and editor of a community newspaper, Louise transitioned into the public relations field as a result of the community affairs work she was doing at the newspaper. She joined the Chamber of Commerce soon after starting her own business in 1994 and has served on the board continuously as either an officer or director for 16 years.  Louise currently chairs the Chamber’s Campaign To Revitalize Hempstead Turnpike and its Grants Committee. She believes Chamber of Commerce membership is integral to doing business in the community because of the exposure her business gets and the associations she develops with other business owners. She encourages all business owners to consider membership in the Chamber. Louise attended Levittown schools from third grade to twelfth, graduating from Levittown Memorial High School. She received her Associates Degree in Fine Arts from Nassau Community College and is a graduate of SUNY Old Westbury with a Bachelors degree in American Studies and New York Institute of Technology with a Masters in Communication Arts.  Clients of LuCas Communications have included Cablevision, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Eastern Suffolk BOCES Long Island School To Career Partnership, Long Island’s United Way, former Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi’s Green Levittown Campaign and local businesses including Minuteman Press, Fred Form, Accountant and Friends Travel. An avid Long Island volunteer and mentor to many in her profession and in business, Louise is the only person to have held presidencies in both of Long Island’s two prestigious communications organizations, Public Relations Professionals of Long Island and the International Association of Business Communicators/Long Island chapter (IABC/LI). In addition to her presidency in the Chamber, she was the charter president of the Levittown Community Council and co-chaired Levittown’s 50th and 60th anniversary committees. She is also the proud recipient of numerous academic, community and professional awards including the Nassau County Chambers of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award in 1999, the Town of Hempstead Pathfinder Award in 2004 and PRPLI Mentor Award in 2008.  Recently, Louise has pursued her passion of fine art taking classes and working with pastels and acrylics in her spare time. To view her art work, visit her on Facebook. Louise lives in Levittown with her husband, travel companion and greatest supporter, Mauro. Their two sons, Joseph and Andrew and daughters-in-law Tara and Lisa have gifted them with the great joy of four grandchildren.  For information regarding your public relations needs, contact Louise at 516-735-5901 or by e-mail at lc@louisecassano.com.
