Crimes Nearby: Fatal Car Accident Under Investigation

The following information is taken from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Wantagh

- The rear window of a home on Park Avenue in Wantagh was reported broken by unknown suspect(s) on Nov. 1.
- A cable box located in a refrigerator was reported stolen from a home on Bayview Street in Seaford on Nov. 8.

- A heating pump assembly was reported stolen from the basement of St. Markella Greek Orthodox Church in Wantagh on Nov. 11.

- The windshield of a 2006 white Toyota parked at the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road Station parking lot was reported cracked on Nov. 17 by unknown suspect(s) with also damage to the hood.

East Meadow

- On Nov. 6, unauthorized debits of $998 from a back account were reported to police.

- An unknown man stole a camera and a necklace from LG Collectibles on Nov. 13.

- On Nov. 15, an unknown man stole the tip jar from Mama Yogurt.

- An unknown man removed a tip jar from Taco King on Nov 16.

- On Nov. 18, glass was found broken at Mirror Image.

Hicksville

- A fatal car accident that occurred in Hicksville on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 12:35 a.m. is currently under investigation.

According to detectives, a 2012 Freightliner was entering South Broadway (Route 107) from a driveway at 840 South Broadway in a northeast direction when it was struck by a 2005 Mercury traveling southbound being operated by a Bethpage man.

The victim was pronounced at the scene at 12:44 A.M. The operator of the tractor trailer was not injured, and the Mercury was impounded for safety checks.
