A look at recent crime in the Levittown area.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

A Uniondale man was arrested for a robbery that occurred on April 20 at 2:00 pm in Hicksville.

According to detectives, Jesus Bellamy, 26, entered the business of Credit Solutions, 550 West Old Country Road and confronted the business president. After verbally demanding money for credit repair services rendered to the victim, Bellamy withdrew a handgun from his waistband and continued his threats for money.  The victim was able to wrestle the gun from Bellamy who then fled the building.

During his flight, Bellamy’s baseball cap was found at the scene. After forensic testing, a positive DNA match was made to the defendant. Attempts to locate Bellamy were unsuccessful until Jan. 3, 2013, when he responded to an unrelated court date in Mineola.

Bellamy was then placed under arrest by Bureau of Special Operations officers without incident.  Bellamy is charged with first degree robbery, second degree criminal use of a firearm and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on Jan. 3, 2013.
