A look at recent crime in the Levittown area.
The following information
is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident
reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.
Hicksville
-
A Uniondale man was arrested for a robbery
that occurred on April 20 at 2:00 pm in Hicksville.
According
to detectives, Jesus Bellamy, 26, entered the business of Credit Solutions, 550
West Old Country Road and confronted the business president. After verbally
demanding money for credit repair services rendered to the victim, Bellamy
withdrew a handgun from his waistband and continued his threats for money.
The
victim was able to wrestle the gun from Bellamy who then fled the building.
During
his flight, Bellamy’s baseball cap was found at the scene. After forensic
testing, a positive DNA match was made to the defendant. Attempts to locate
Bellamy were unsuccessful until Jan. 3, 2013, when he responded to an unrelated
court date in Mineola.
Bellamy was then placed under arrest by Bureau of
Special Operations officers without incident.
Bellamy
is charged with first degree robbery, second degree criminal use of a firearm
and second degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in First
District Court, Hempstead on Jan. 3, 2013.
Bellmore - A Bellmore man was arrested on
Jan. 4 after he allegedly threatened to "shoot everyone at Mepham High
School," police said. For more on story, click

- On Dec. 26 at 2:15 a.m., Carl
Nowicki, 22, of Bellmore, was arrested on Bellmore Avenue and charged with
driving while intoxicated and two violations of the vehicle and
traffic law.
- On Dec. 27, at 10:55
p.m., Tiffany Lopez, 21, of Bellmore, was arrested at the intersection of
Shoreham Way and Whaleneck Drive in Merrick and charged with driving while
intoxicated and obstructing governmental administration.
Levittown - On Dec. 22, a windshield, console
and glove box was damaged on a car on Ranch Lane.
- On Dec. 20, cash was stolen from
Jay's Appliance in Levittown.
- On Dec. 21, front
window screens were cut on a home on Boat
Lane. No other loss was reported.
Wantagh - At 1:26 a.m. on New Year’ Day, a
911 call was received for an intoxicated and disorderly female on a train at
the
Wantagh Long Island Rail Road Station.
Officers entered train to remove the woman and she resisted. The woman, Liberty
Rodriguez, 31, of Woodhaven was arrested and charged with second-degree
assault, resisting arrest, obstructing government administration and
trespassing.
- On New Year’s Day at 3:10 a.m.,
Courtney Barham, 31, of Roosevelt was arrested at the corner of Sunrise Highway
and Wantagh Avenue and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed
operation of a motor vehicle and one vehicle and traffic law violation.
- At 3:42 a.m. on New Year’s Day,
Urszula Zakrzewska, 45, of Linden N.J. was arrested at the corner of Oakland
Avenue and Sunrise Highway in Wantagh and charged with driving while
intoxicated as well as two vehicle and traffic violations.
