Extension of Tax Deadline Granted for Residents in Levittown, Island Trees School Districts

A tax deadline extension has been approved by the governor for several school districts, including Levittown and Island Trees.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Donald X. Clavin, Jr. had requested the extension for all school districts within the township, however the governor has signed an order that only includes districts which have independently requested an extension.

Accordingly, residents of both the Levittown and Island Trees School Districts may pay their school taxes, without penalty, until Dec. 4.

Residents of all other districts in Hempstead Town must make their payments by not later than Tuesday, Nov. 13, to avoid incurring a penalty.

Are you kidding me?? I paid my taxes on November 9 because I wasn't sure if the office would be open on the 10th to receive my taxes. Had I been given notice ahead of time, I would have gladly left my $3200 in my bank account earning interest for me instead of the town.. Nice looking out for the residents!!
