Island Trees Youth Football Player Named Among Best in Nation

Levittown resident will play in national football tournament at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The Island Trees School District recently announced that Liam Siegler, a 7th grader at ITMS and defensive tackle for the football team, has been named by The Football University (FBU) as one of the best 7th-8th grade football players in the country.

For his accomplishment, Siegler has been selected to the All-American Games and he will participate in the 2012 National Football Tournament, which takes place in early January and is held at the San Antonio's Alamodome.

“Liam is a top-notch student, who is also an amazing athlete and person,” said Joseph Manna, Island Trees Assistant Football Coach.

The FBU has been organized to enable the nation's top football athletes to compete against one another. This organization says that they feel this competition and opportunity helps prepare the nation's top student-athletes for the rest of their lives, both on and off the gridiron.

The school said this is the first time in the history of the Island Trees School district that they have had someone named to this prestigious event.

Liam’s father, Mike Siegler, was a key lineman who played football for Island Trees in the late 80’s, and he currently coaches the youth football team.

“We are sure that Coach Siegler is very proud of Liam and his accomplishments, as all of us here within the Island Trees community are too,” Manna said.
