Levittown Crossfit to Host 'Run for the Beach' Sandy Fundraiser

The fundraiser will benefit the city of Long Beach and help those that are in need following the devastation of Superstorm Sandy.

Long Beach resident Kerriann Cunningham has partnered with her gym, Crossfit Revenge of Levittown, to organize a "Run for the Beach" fundraiser to help Long Beach recover from Hurricane Sandy.

Cunningham, a school psychologist in Valley Stream District 24, said she has gotten the entire district and the PTA community involved. She has also reached out to neighboring districts, including the Levittown Public School District, to be a part of the fundraiser.

Cunningham has also teamed up with Bryan Murphy, the creator of the Sandy Help LB Facebook page, and all proceeds will be going directly towards families in need and towards helping Long Beach get back on their feet.

The event starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Crossfit Revenge, located at 2890 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown. It will include a 5K race for adults, a fun run and other activities for kids and raffles to raise money.

Local businesses such as Frasada Salon and Spa in Oceanside, Fun Station in Lynbrook, Bikram Yoga of Rockville Centre, the Runner's Stop in Lynbrook and other nearby restaurants have generously offered gift certificates to help in this endeavor, according to Cunningham.
