MoveOn.org Stages Protest Along Hempstead Turnpike

The protest was one of many being held across the country.

MoveOn.org staged a protest against the budget talks in Congress at the southeast corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Gardiners Avenue on Thursday.

The protesters called themselves the "99 percent" and targeted the 1 percent of Americans who own the most wealth, saying that Congress protects them at the expense of the rest of the public.

The protest was one of approximately 350 "We Are the 99 Percent" protests organized nationwide. While the protests were not directly linked to the Occupy Wall Street movement in Manhattan, several protesters expressed their support for that movement.

For more info on the protest, you can read Patch's from Nov. 14. You can also view a Youtube video of the protest here.
