New CVS in Levittown on Track for January Opening

New building features 12,900 square feet, drive-through pharmacy.

Construction of a new CVS in Levittown is nearing completion and the store is scheduled to open on Jan. 27, 2013, CVS Caremark Director of Public Relations Mike DeAngelis confirmed.

The new CVS is located at the site of the former HSBC bank on Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown. The tenants from current CVS across the street will move out of that building and into the newly-constructed one.

"Fortunately, the hurricane did not impact our timetable and we remain on schedule," DeAngelis told Patch.

At 12,900 square feet, the new CVS building will be 50 percent larger than the HSBC building and will feature a drive-through pharmacy, which the current CVS location does not offer.

DeAngelis added that the current CVS across the street in the Levittown Shopping Center will close the evening before the new store opens. Employees will relocate to the new store, and the company will also transfer their pharmacy systems and records to the new location, DeAngelis said.

The plans to demolish the former HSBC building were announced back in February, and the demolition was completed in June.

It is currently unknown what will be replacing the current CVS once they move across the street.
