Levittown firefighters were called last week to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Hempstead Tpke. after the church steeple and cross were in danger of falling off the roof.
Firefighters used both Ladder Companies and secured the steeple and safely lowered it to the ground.
The steeple was donated 28 years ago by a woman who saved her babysitting money for years so" her church could have a steeple," a church spokesperson said. The church is hoping to find a way to put it back up.
