The Week Ahead: Marching Band Festival, Community Council Meeting and Halloween Gala

A look at the events, meetings, activities and things to know for this week, Oct. 22 – 28.

Monday  

The Levittown Community Council holds a general meeting Monday at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be attorney Deborah E. Kaminetzky who will review with us the small claims court process. Ms. Kaminetzky practices Matrimonial, Contruction Contract, Small Business Litigation and Estate Planning Law.   

The council will also be holding elections for the new board during this meeting.   Meetings are held at the Levittown Memorial Education Center in the Culinary Arts Room, 150 Abbey Ln. in Levittown.  If you have any questions about this event,  contact Pat Patane, Program Committee Chair at 516-579-2831 or at PatP@alcottgroup.com.     

Tuesday

The Newsday Marching Band Festival begins at 7 p.m. at Hofstra University’s James M. Shuart Stadium. On Tuesday, Division HS , Island Trees HS and MacArthur HS are all scheduled to perform. 

Wednesday  

The Levittown Board of Education holds a special meeting on Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. at the Levittown Memorial Education Center. Stay with us for a look at the agenda on Wednesday and check back for the story Thursday.  

Thursday

Friday  
 

The ELIJA Foundations holds their annual Halloween Gala to honor NY State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo Jr., who will be accepting ELIJA’s Champion of Hope Award. 
  
Held at Long Island’s The Carltun in Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, NY, Senator Fuschillo is being acknowledged for his efforts in helping New York become the 29th state to adopt the Autism Insurance Reform. Fuschillo helped champion Assembly Bill 8512, which is one of the most comprehensive autism insurance reform measures in the nation, according to a release.

Saturday

The Division Avenue High School PTSA is hosting a Basketball Fundraiser featuring the Harlem Wizards vs. DAHS Dragon Staff Team. Faculty members from the school will be challenging the Harlem Wizards on Saturday Oct. 27, 2012. 

Proceeds from this event will go towards enhancing DAHS Cultural Arts Programs, Senior Awards and other PTSA sponsored programs. Advanced Purchase Tickets for the event are on sale now - $10 for Students and Sr. Citizens and $12 for General Admission - by contacting Angela List @ ptsawizards@optonline.net or 347-236-1026.
