Seaford-Wantagh area overlooked?

If Kate Murray wants to reduce Town taxes, she should start by stop wasting taxpayer money. In 2012 the Town hired two additional GRAPHICS ARTISTS, what for you ask? You will need to ask Kate Murray. In 2011 there was one graphics artists earning 67k. In 2012 there are 3 graphics artists earning $269,584. Way to save money Kate!!! Why you ask Felix...So they can design the b.s. flyers she sends out touting the towns passport program and purchase of mini goats that eat grass.

By the way, these forums are a waste of time. It's the same rhetoric that does not deal with the real problems affecting the tax base. Smoke and mirrors.

@Brian Levy: Those are the dates/areas listed on the Hempstead Town website: http://toh.li/events/555-taxpayers-forums-jan-feb-2013. Jaime Sumersille Regional Editor, Nassau County

They have done that with one graphics artist, what are they going to do with two new hires? Also, the average salary of each graphics artist is now $90,000. In 2011 it was $67,500. That graphic artist was Jenna Hudes, Councilman Gary Hudes daughter. I wonder how she got the job?

Sure looks like Seaford Wantagh overlooked again

Uniondale is also missing from the above list, so is Franklin Square. Doesn't matter anyway, the real problem is local goverments on Long Island spend too much for the services residents receive (and most residents do not even realize it). In Sanitary District 2 residents actually voted to keep their sanitation taxes twice as high than they need to be (a good PR campaign on the part of SD2 and some lying on the part of Kate Murray and Councilman Santino did the job) Residents bought the snow job, hook, line, and sinker. See : http://malverne-lynbrook.patch.com/blog_posts/sanitary-district-2-should-be-consolidated. School Districts are also experts at this. Each year a majority of Long Island residents vote to have their taxes raised. A lot of them even feel they are gitting a good value (I wonder what they are comparing it to?). Residents don't even have to think, the School Districts tell them how to do that, "VOTE Yes if you care about Education" (vote NO if you don't).

It's obvious the voting base in these parts just doesn't care or is uninformed on the folks running for any type of elected office. Should we be surprised she continues to win reelection??? Carolyn McCarthy aka one issue, empty suit/ queen of the no vote in congress, won again.

It is now January 7th. Where are the Tax bills that are due this month? Clavin should focus on getting the bills out instead of running these grandstanding and useless seminars. He was elected as tax collector, not moderator of tax reduction seminars. Do your job, Mr. Clavin.
Robert Demarco January 07, 2013 at 12:55 PM
As always, nepotism and patronage are alive and well in TOH. I am sure that Ms. Hudes took a civil service exam and worked her way up the list (yeah, right!!).
Robert Demarco January 07, 2013 at 01:07 PM
Jenna has to make a living. Long Island is expensive.
Bob Rabey January 08, 2013 at 06:40 AM
Felix, Robert.......come on guys, we're getting exactly what we deserve. I'm sure you both realize by now that we, the voting public, are viewed upon as people who fell asleep with our heads resting on a nuclear reactor, and are now little more than "meat with eyes", with no brain function. The really sad thing of it is, is they are right! We allow all these things to happen over and over again. It's not that the public is unaware or misinformed, they are just lazy and really don't care. We are lead like sheep to the slaughter.
Robert Demarco January 08, 2013 at 01:09 PM
And as you wrote your post, two more flyers from Kate Murray and TOH arrived in the mail yesterday. These people have no restraint and no shame.

It's the school taxes folks...and 608 Nassau home owners pay little if any school taxes because they get NYS Real Property Law 460 exemptions ..for "clergy on PRIVATELY owned ( not church or synagogue property). In Hewlett Woodmere average exemption is $12,000 and 35 owners pay NO school taxes. It is outrageous! more info? write to clergyexemption@gmail.com
