Two MacArthur Football Players Named to All-State Team

Two MacArthur Generals were named to the Class AA All-State team this week by the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA).

Senior linebacker Anthony DeNunzio was named to the second team and senior running back Tom Kelleher was named to the fourth team.

The Generals went 7-1 during the regular season, including a 24-17 upset win over Garden City before the playoffs. However, after an opening-round win against Elmont, MacArthur fell in overtime to Wantagh in the semifinals.

DeNunzio finished the season with 10 sacks and three recovered fumbles. He was named to the MSG Varsity All-Metro Football Team in December.

On the other side of the ball, Kelleher rushed for 100 yards in all but one game during 2012, including a 225-yard effort against Elmont back on Oct. 13.
