Long Island Reads Program - From Slavery to Freedom

From Slavery to Freedom:  New Research on African-American History on Long Island
Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mildred B. Cantor Community Room

Join Jennifer Anderson, an Atlantic World historian and Stony Brook University Professor of History, for a look back in time on Long Island when slaves were part of the Sylvester Manor on Shelter Island and at their journey to freedom.  She was a member of the Manor preservation guidelines team who curated the recent exhibition from the archives at NYU.
