Holidays 2012: E-cycle Phones and Gadgets; Donate New Toys and Clothes

Do you have items you no longer need? A number of holiday collections are underway and items can be easily donated at one location. Find out more!

Are you buying a new winter jacket? Do you have holiday lights that no longer work? Did your kids get duplicate toys this year? Did Santa bring you a new cell phone?

If you have items you’d like to toss but aren’t sure what to do with them, a number of collections are taking place and items can be dropped off right at Goodwill Store, located at 2736 Merrick Road in Bellmore, Andy Foundation's High Top Shop, located at 671 Franklin Ave. in Garden City or at several purple Big Brothers Big Sisters or Society of St. Vincent de Paul bin locations.

Call Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island to schedule pick up for bulk and other items at 631-234-0000.

New, unwrapped toys are being sought for children in the area. Check out Toys for Tots for local donation sites. The Lupus Foundation will also pick up directly from your home. Additionlly, donations can be sold or donated to Once Upon a Child in Seaford.

Cell phones piling up because you have the newest and best that technology has to offer?

Hempstead Town will have an e-cycle pick up on Jan. 30. Items must be to the curb by 6 a.m. Available to Town of Hempstead Department of Sanitation residential customers only.
