By Elizabeth Sobel

Division Avenue High School senior Joe Spitaleri has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa.

Spitaleri, who has been a three-year starter at shortstop for the Blue Dragons, was named All-League as a sophomore and All-Conference the following year. He was instrumental in the team winning the 2013 Conference A2 championship, batting .413 with 15 runs scored.

“I believe that with a strong work ethic, and by dedicating 100 percent effort to your goal, you will see the results you want,” Spitaleri said. “It is very gratifying to play baseball at the college level.”
