Division Sophomore Competing for Miss New York Teen USA 2014

Division High School sophomore Selina Maria Mojica will be competing for the coveted title of Miss New York Teen USA 2014.

Mojica, 16, was raised in Levittown and is a graduate of the Barbizon School of Modeling in New York City. This is her first time competing in any pageant, said her father, Rob Mojica.

"She is your typical teenager who likes to do what 16-year-olds do and that is to have fun," he said. "She doesn't take herself to seriously and loves to enjoy life."

The state pageant directors have requested that all the contestants reach out to family, friends and the public to get sponsors, to offset the cost for everything that Mojica needs. That includes evening gowns, swimsuits, shoes, etc.

Mojica said that residents can go to Selina's GoFundMe.com page, where sponsors can contribute directly to her fund so hopefully she can make her goal.
