HBO Documentary 'Hard Times' Launches Monday

The series takes a look at how unemployment and the slow recovery has affected American families.

 

A new documentary on HBO called "Hard Times: Lost on Long Island," features a number of local families who are from the Levittown area.

The documentary "spotlights the challenges facing highly skilled, well-educated Long Islanders who lost their jobs after the 2008 crisis."

The series will also focus on Levittown, according to Examiner.com.

Beginning Monday, July 9, HBO will present “Hard Times,” which promises to offer a sobering look at how foreclosures and unemployment have devastated an iconic American town. Levittown, on Long Island, symbolized the post-war boom of families, babies, housing construction, the GI Bill, and jobs growth.

It's unclear if any of the four families featured in the documentary are from Levittown. One couple, Alan and Susan Fromm, raised two children in Plainview, according to the HBO website.

The documentary launches Monday, July 9 at 9 p.m.
