The Levittown Mom Who Saved Halloween for Kids During Sandy

Halloween in Levittown was almost ruined for kids last year because of Hurricane Sandy, but one mom’s efforts helped save the day.

With many trees and wires down after the storm, making trick-or-treating far too dangerous, kids were left with few options on Halloween. Instead of just calling it quits, Levittown mom Kristine Ekberg came up with the idea of "Trick-or-Trunking" in the K-Mart parking lot: lining up parked cars and handing out candy to kids in a safe manner.

The result was around 40 cars packing the K-Mart parking lot and Halloween being saved for many children.
