Levittown Girls to Represent NY in National Princess Pageant

Two Levittown girls are headed to Disneyland to compete in the National American Miss Princess Pageant.

Shanel and Sayjel Tan were previously selected to compete in the New York State pageant in the age 4-6 division. At that pageant on August 9 and 10, the girls qualified to compete in the National finals this November at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

At the state pageant, Sayjel won the talent and top model search, bringing home cash prizes and $1,000 in scholarships. Her sister Shanel won first runner-up for the top model search.

The National American Miss Pageants are "dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders." Each girl that qualifies for the national pageant has a chance to win a new 2013 Ford Mustang convertible and a share of over $500,000 in cash and other prizes.

The program is based on "inner beauty as well as poise, presentation and offers an "All American Spirit" of fun for family and friends." The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future.
