Continuing Division 6’s partnership with Levittown’s Old Navy Store, Lt. Governor Paul DeSantis and three Levittown and East Meadow Key Club officers recently participated in Camp Old Navy, a half-day session of retail managerial training for high school students provided by Old Navy stores and their parent company The GAP.
During the session, DeSantis, Division Avenue Key Club IPP Jasmine Blennau, Division Ave Key Club VP Jade Blennau and East Meadow High School VP Anusha Syed received training on working with Old Navy staff, Old Navy’s “Buying Behaviors” and leadership skills.
In addition to providing insight into retail management, Camp Old Navy also taught the Key Clubbers skills that are applicable to the leadership of their club and division as well as techniques to maximize fundraising.

The session was highly interactive and included several fun contests related to retail displays and shopping. DeSantis was clearly at a disadvantage and was bested by the three girls in all three contests.
“This morning’s program and curriculum were the best I have seen. Stacey Engebrethson, Levittown Old Navy’s Service & Training Manager, really outdid herself in enhancing this program,” said LISC Service Leadership Chair Rich Santer, who has set-up Division 6’s participation in Camp Old Navy for the past three years.
In recognition of their participation, the Key Clubbers each received a “Bag of Swag.” The GAP Foundation will also provide a $250 Grant to NY District Key Club - Division 6.
DeSantis has earmarked the grant for donation to Kiwanis International’s Eliminate Project. In partnership with UNICEF, the Eliminate Project seeks to raise $110 million dollars to eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus from the developing world by 2015 through administration of vaccinations and educational programs.
