Levittown Resident James A. Delisio Passes Away

Delisio, a WWII veteran, was 88.

James Anthony "Coach" Delisio, 88, of Levittown, NY, died Aug. 24. He was born in Haverstraw, NY, son of the late Anthony and Ellen (Cooke) Delisio. He graduated from St. Peter's School and Haverstraw H.S.

James served with the 339th Fighter Group of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Hartwick College and the Columbia University School of Business.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years Ruth (Staples) Delisio; 3 children, James E. (Mary) of Farmingdale, NY; Ellen of Middletown, CT; and John (Liesl) of Midlothian, VA; three grandchildren, JP, Rebecca and Gabriel Delisio; a brother, Louis (Ella) of VA; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Delisio of West Haverstraw and Mary Staples of FL. James was predeceased by a brother, Carmine, of West Haverstraw.

Funeral services were Aug. 30; burial with military honors followed in Westbury, NY.

Memorial donations can be sent to the American Heart Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
