Dear Island Trees School Community,
It’s hard to believe the end of the school year is already upon us. The days continue to grow longer and the seemingly endless summer vacation is almost here.
Clearly with so much time off, student reading and math skills have been known to erode over this period. Therefore, we encourage weekly visits to the library and hope your elementary children are able to participate in all of the summer reading incentives offered by our schools and the Island Trees Public Library.
At the secondary level, our staff puts together summer assignments for students. We hope this practice prevents a significant loss of academic skills during this time frame. The new college readiness standards are requiring more and more from our children and it is imperative that students continue to focus on their education during the summer vacation.
If you have any questions or have not heard about summer reading assignments or incentives, please contact your child’s principal.
