A home on Blacksmith Road in Levittown suffered exterior damage in a house fire early Wednesday morning, firefighters said.

At 2:21 a.m., Levittown firefighters and Nassau County Police were alerted to the house fire on Blacksmith Road, located just west of Jerusalem Avenue.

Under the command of Chief Christopher Behrens, firefighters were able to stop the blaze from extending into the attic and other rooms in the home.

One room and the exterior of the home were damaged and no injuries were reported, firefighters said. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshals Office.

This is my house. I was home alone and asleep, Thank goodness my 8 month old puppy woke me up and being an EMT for years I was able to let my training take over and quickly begin suppressing the fire and prevent further loss, thankfully i recieved help from my neighbor with his hose which without who knows how much more we would have lost during the already prompt response time of the LFD. if my puppy hadn't woken me up I could have lost the whole house and my life, and without the LFD and their top notch members' precision teamwork it would have been a total loss, I would like to give my most sincere thank you to the Levittown fire department! From one emergency serviceman to many, you're forever in my heart for what you did for myself and my family this morning, and my family absolutely includes 3 of my 4 cats that were recovered unscathed, and the 4th was found this afternoon in the crawl space a bit shaken and scared but thankfully unscathed... The care and help provided to myself, my family, and my pets from the LFD is second to none, thank you for making a tough experience that much easier and for saving my childhood home, thank you so very much! keep doing what you all do so well! You are the difference this world needs and your service risking your lives is appreciated more than you know. Thank You!!!
