A male suspect remains at large after police say he robbed Capital One Bank on Hempstead Turnpike approximately 9:40 a.m. Friday morning.
According to detectives, a man entered the bank armed with a black handgun and ordered all customers to lie on the ground. An unknown amount of U.S. currency was placed into a bag and given to the robber, who then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Police are looking for an approximately 40-year-old male, possibly white or Hispanic. The subject wore a multicolored baseball cap, a dark-colored jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers. He was wearing a mask at the time of the robbery. He is approximately 5'8" tall and is of medium build.
This incident is the second during the past week in Levittown, as the Bethpage Federal Credit Union located inside King Kullen was robbed last Friday. It is unknown at this time whether the two robberies are linked.
