UPDATE: Citizens Bank Inside Stop & Shop Robbed

The robbery is the third in Levittown in the past two months.

Police are looking for a white male suspect after the suspect robbed Citizens Bank inside of a Stop & Shop along Hempstead Turnpike early Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the subject entered the bank at approximately 12:20 p.m. and made a verbal demand for cash. Upon receiving an undetermined amount of money, he fled out the east door of the Stop & Shop. He is described as a white male between the ages of 40 and 50, approximately 5-foot-7 in height and of medium build. He was wearing a black shirt, dark shorts and sunglasses.

Two employees and one customer were present at the time of the robbery, according to police. No injuries were reported.

The Island Trees School District was locked in as a result of the robbery until the order was lifted at 1:47 p.m. A call to the Levittown School District revealed that the district was informed of the robbery but were advised not to lock down the schools.

This is the third bank robbery in Levittown in the past two months, following robberies at a Bethpage Federal Credit Union and at a Capital One Bank in August.

This is a breaking news story. More details will be made available as they are known.
