An East Meadow man drove his teenage daughter and her friends to a Hicksville park in order to fight another girl on June 18, and struck a boy in the head with a crowbar when the male victim tried to intervene, authorities said.

Early Wednesday, Richard Ortiz, 45 of 1547 Prospect Avenue, surrendered to Nassau detectives at the Second Precinct.

Police say the male victim, 17, was at Abe Levitt Park, Stewart Avenue with three friends when the defendant, Richard Ortiz, 45 of 1547 Prospect Avenue, arrived with his 17-year-old daughter and three teenage female friends.

His daughter exited the vehicle and approached the group in order to fight another female. When the male victim stepped in between the two females to prevent the fight, Ortiz struck him in the head with a crowbar, causing a large laceration to his head, police said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Ortiz is charged with second-degree assault. He is to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
