Cops Hunting Hit and Run Driver Who Struck Teen Girl

14-year-old hospitalized after being struck on Hempstead Turnpike, police said.

Police are searching for a driver who struck a teenage girl and sent her to the hospital.

Nassau County Police said the unidentified 14-year-old girl was crossing Hempstead Turnpike when she was struck by a car that fled the scene without stopping. The force of the collision threw the girl into the air and she was struck by two other cars, both of which stopped and remained at the scene, police said.

The incident happened at Hempstead Turnpike and Shelter Lane in Levittown at 3:52 p.m. Thursday, cops said.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of “multiple trauma injuries,” according to officials.

Police are searching for the driver of the first car, described as a brown or tan four-door car that was driving east on Hempstead Turnpike.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
