A Levittown man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly stole an envelope off a front porch and then attempted to break into a Levittown home, cops said.

According to police, at 2:50 p.m., Nitin Malhotra, 21, went to a residence on Elm Drive and took a large envelope that was on the porch. He then went to the rear of the home, broke a screen and then fled in an unknown direction, cops added.

A witness called police, and Malhotra was located by Second Precinct officers on Miller Place with the proceeds. He was then placed under arrest.

Malhotra is charged with second-degree attempted burglary and petit larceny, and his arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Its disgusting when you click on a "story " above only to have it be an advert.

Confusing story. "He was caught with the proceeds". He attempted to break in. What were the proceeds, something in the envelope? Where in Levittown does Nitrin Malhotra live? Very sketchy report.

Was my comment removed for suggesting you lock your doors and windows, get a big dog, and a gun permit? Was that considered offensive? Oh well, get used to being a victim. Political correctness at all costs.
