Crimes Nearby: Lifeguards Busted for Drug Possession

Police are also searching for suspects in a murder of a 27-year-old man last week.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports and the Second Precinct Crime and Arrests report. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.  

Wantagh

- Three lifeguards were arrested for drug possession Tuesday at Jones Beach State Park, according to New York State Parks Police. Read more here.

- Nassau cops are seeking the community's help in identifying those responsible for the murder of a 27-year-old Roosevelt man at Mill Pond Park in Bellmore last Sunday.

Bethpage 

Sometime between August 1 at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., cash and a checkbook was stolen from a car at Fife and Drum Bar.

- On August 4 at 4:30 p.m., cash was stolen from a register at Ace Hardware.

Hicksville 

- On August 1 at 7:50 p.m., tires were slashed on a car at Target.

- On August 1 at 11 p.m, a car tire was keyed on S. Elm Street. 

- Sometime between August 5 at 7:30 p.m. and August 6 at 10 a.m., a car was scratched on Gables Drive.

- On August 6 at 2:43 a.m., a rear door at Verizon Wireless was pried open with no loss reported.

- Sometime between July 31 at 6 p.m. and 11:55 p.m., a car was stolen on S. Oyster Bay Road.

- Sometime between August 1 at 6 p.m. and August 2 at 9 a.m., artwork was stolen from Bunzl Distribution.

- Sometime between August 2 and August 5, tools were stolen from a locked storage container at Z Rite Plumbing.

- Sometime between July 14 and July 22, a trailer was stolen from a lot at Asian Buffet.
