Crimes Nearby, Pt. II: Stolen Dog Re-United With Owners, Teens Assaulted

A look at recent crime in the Levittown area.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports and the Second Precinct Crime and Arrests report. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime. 

Merrick
  • A Merrick woman was arrested last Sunday after a traffic stop in Elmont turned into a major drug bust. For further details, click here.

  • A Virginia man was arrested for burglary in Merrick on Friday night, police said. For more on the apprehension, click here.

  • Sometime after 7:15 p.m. on July 26, a bike was stolen from a driveway on Benson Lane.

  • Sometime between 9:45 p.m. on July 22 and 7:50 a.m. on July 23, a vehicle parked on Clark Street was scratched.

  • Sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on July 29, a backpack that contained a cell phone was stolen while the complainant was playing basketball at Merrick Road Park.

  • On July 27, at 10:51 p.m., Jill Beck, 52, of Bellmore, was arrested on Merrick Road and charged with driving while intoxicated.

  • Bellmore

    • A Bellmore man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly burglarized homes in Bellmore, Wantagh and Merrick. Click here for more on his arrest.

  • Sometime between 8 p.m. on July 22 and 8 a.m. on July 23, tires and rims were stolen from a 2002 Honda Accord that was parked at Gas Stop, which is located at 2870 Sunrise Highway.

  • Seaford

    • At 9 a.m. on July 18, it was discovered that an air compressor was stolen from Cedar Creek Park.

    • Sometime between 5 p.m. on July 22 and 7:30 a.m. on July 23, tools were stolen from Cedar Creek Park.

    • Sometime between 2 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on July 23, a rear window at Seaford Avenue School was broken.

  • Sometime between 9 p.m. on July 24 and 9:15 a.m. on July 25, a vehicle parked on New York Avenue had its driver's side tires slashed.

  • Massapequa

    • Two teens were jumped by a group of robbers on Merrick Road early Saturday morning, police said. For details on the assault, click this link.

    • On July 28, at 11:45 a.m., a complainant’s wallet and cash were stolen from a gym locker at Xtreme Gym. The suspect damaged the locker to remove the property, cops said.

    • At 3:30 a.m. on July 24, the complainant on Pittsburgh Avenue heard her car alarm going off. She later discovered her vehicle had been rummaged through, with a laptop, sunglasses and GPS being stolen.

    • Sometime between 5 p.m. on July 23 and 11:45 a.m. on July 24, cash was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Ontario Avenue.

    • At 4:30 a.m. on July 26, an unknown male entered an unlocked vehicle on Hamilton Avenue and stole cash.

    • Sometime between 11 p.m. on July 27 and 8 a.m. on July 28, an iPod and a wallet were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on New Hampshire Avenue.

    • Sometime between 11 p.m. on July 27 and 1 a.m. on July 28, the window of a parked car on Merrick Road was broken and a briefcase, laptop and other electronics were stolen.
