Two people were treated for smoke inhalation and one was transported to NUMC during a basement fire at the Off-Track Betting building in Levittown Monday afternoon.
The fire occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the OTB, located at 2680 Hempstead Tpke. The exterior fire spread into the basement and caused the OTB to be evacuated and Hempstead Tpke. eastbound closed during the operation, firefighters said.
The East Meadow Fire Department was called to the scene with a ladder truck, and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
