A two-car collision along Hempstead Turnpike sent two residents to the Nassau University Medical Center late Sunday night.
According to police, the minor collision occurred at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Division Avenue at approximately 10:55 p.m. One of the cars involved went on fire after the accident; fire fighters responded and put the car fire out. The car suffered significant front damage and had to be towed.
Two ambulances left the scene of the accident at approximately 11:20 p.m. Police temporarily closed the two right lanes of the westbound side of Hempstead Turnpike, re-opening them at around 11:35 p.m.
