NEARBY: Woman Robbed in Stop & Shop Parking Lot

The subject, who fled the scene on a bike, pushed the victim against her car and forcibly ripped her pocketbook from her shoulder, police said.

A woman was robbed of her pocketbook Tuesday afternoon as she loaded groceries into her car in the parking lot of the East Meadow Stop & Shop, Nassau County Third Squad detectives said.

The incident occurred at 3:30 p.m.

According to detectives, the 54-year-old victim was approached by an African American man wearing a hooded sweatshirt that was covering his face.

The subject pushed the victim against her car and forcibly ripped her pocketbook from her shoulder, police said, and then jumped onto a black mountain bike.

The subject was last seen riding westbound on Hempstead Turnpike.
