A Levittown man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a neighboring house and stealing an iPad Saturday night.
According to Nassau County detectives, an 81-year-old woman returned to her Elm Drive East residence at 10:30 p.m. and noticed that her glass back door was broken. The woman continued inside, searched the home and found her iPad missing.
The police were notified and after further investigation, Julian T. Lauria, 28, was placed under arrest at his home, police said. The iPad was recovered.
Lauria is being charged with burglary in the second degree.
Additionally, Lauria is being charged with two counts of petit larceny from two prior incidents in East Meadow. Police said that on April 11 and 12, the defendant entered a 7-11 store located at 2138 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow and removed assorted merchandise.
Lauria will be arraigned on July 2 at First District Court in Hempstead.
